I'll need to double check that later.I believe the whole military defense budget, excluding VA and other military related programs, was $620 billion this year, so that would cut it. Memory is fuzzy and I'm nearly out of time, but I think to completely resolve the deficit at its current level, you could cut out the entire defense department, the entire EPA, the entire dept of education and still need a bit more. We are running a 600+ billion dollar deficit a year, and completely cutting out entire government departments would be what it would take to get us back to running in the black, and at my preferred less than 80% federal debt.

Additionally I think it would be easier to increase taxes in such a way, to increase tax revenue, then to cut government, or keep consistent enough regulatory policy in place for robust and consistent economic growth, to outplace current projected federal level spending. I'll need to double check that later.īoiling it down there are more people in that realm, then relying on 1-5% of the population for governmental revenue. So let me ask why you'd want to increase the burden on the middle class, the engine of the economy, while decreasing the burden on the super wealthy?Boiling it down there are more people in that realm, then relying on 1-5% of the population for governmental revenue.
